My name is Renecia (Bihms) Cullier and I  was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I am a self-taught painter who creates bold, colorful works with interesting strokes and textures on canvas and bowling pins. My paintings are abstract testimonials based on real experiences and social influences I've endured. I believe that art is a reflection of life and that we all are merely 'works of art in progress'.

My artistic abilities were demonstrated early in childhood as I would doodle, color, write, draw or paint on any kind of paper I could get my hands on. Sometimes that got me into trouble when I used my parents’ bills or other papers as my canvas. Art was always one of my favorite past times. One of my fondest memories was a Thanksgiving project in the fourth grade, when I drew and colored one of the best turkeys in the class and my teacher prominently displayed it on the bulletin board the entire season. I was very proud of my creation and I remember how thrilling it was to have my work exhibited. However, my early dreams of being a ‘real’ beret wearing artist were stifled by my parents and their disbelief of that being a realistic career choice.

Almost twenty years later, with loads of life experiences and a suffocating desire to fulfill my creative dreams, I decided to go to art school to become a designer. In 2000 I proudly graduated with honors from The Art Institute of Houston with an Associates Degree in Graphic Design. I immediately began my career as a designer and continued til 2007. With many successful campaigns to my credit, I decided to un-plug from the technology driven industry to recapture the passion I once had for drawing and painting as a child and pursue a career as a full-time painter. So here I am, pursuing one of my original passions—painting!!!
