St. Augustine Catholic School - Houston Reviews

Wow! what a wonderful 11 years (pk3-8th grade). Yes, the school has had it's ups & downs, but what school does not? We had two wonderful principals with strong attrubutes. The importance of the children's education, safety, morals and faith formation were always apparent. I was able to volunteer in various ways, and be involved with the school. Overall the school and staff are welcoming and Wonderful! My daughters felt safe and received a quality education, enriched with catholic faith. They were well prepared for Catholic High School. My oldsest daughter has graduated from a Cathoilc High School and continued her catholic education at a Catholic College. The youngest is just begining her high school adventure, and is loving it! My daughters have expressed their graditude and are very proud for being able to attend their catholic schools. They occasonally return to St. Augustine to visit their teachers.

I took my son out of this school becuase of the following reasons: they combined all PK classes together, my son who was 4 and about to turn 5 was in a class with 3 years old. The teacher had a hard time separating the activities. Also the same teacher told a white lie about the times a child can be dropped off and my son got in trouble. I confronted the situation with the Director and the Director made it seem like we (the parents) were not telling the truth. After that we had lost all trust with the Director and the teacher. When we told the Director that we were taking my son out, the Director did not even offer to fix the problem. This was the first time I have seen a school not fight for a child to stay in.

I think this is an excellent school! My oldest daughter has been there for five years, since Pre-K 4 and I have never had any problems. The education and the teachers so far have been excellent. I went there thinking my daughter would only go for Pre-K and we ended up staying. I could not go anywhere else right now. The teachers and staff know you by name and my children love it there! I liked the previous principal, but the new principal has implemented really positive and innovative changes in the school since she has been there.

My children aren't going to this school anymore. I would like to feel welcomed at my kids school not like if they have to prepare for me to go to visit. It makes me think like if they have something to hide. They were there last year and until this principal is still there they will not go back!!! Some parents did not want to get involed because of the principal.

The education is okay but that is it. You could not go to visit your child class whenever you wanted to. We pay for our kids to go to this school and should not have to ask for permission to the teachers to be allowed in the class only when they agree. Many parents have had problems with this principal but nothing has been done yet! It is sad to think that your child is in a private catholic school and are not getting the quality of one.
