St. Laurence Catholic School Reviews

Overall, St. Laurence is an awesome school, i like that we dont spend all of our time learning to take the TAKS test. However, the middle school math program has been unstable for many years and many of us are having to repeat algebra in high school because of it. Our religion teacher, Gabriel Castillo, is one the most amazing people i have ever met and he has helped all of us to grow in our faith so much, its a shame that he wont be returning, but i believe the new religion teacher, who is a religious sister, will also be excellent for the students

I have only good things to say about St. Laurence Catholic School, Thanks to the talented staff of teachers my children love school. Strong academics, excelent music and Spanish program and invaluable religious formation. The best school!

Excelent school. One of the best school in Texas. Positive and friendly environment.

Not all teachers at St. Laurence are Certified teachers because the Diocese does not require it. The math and science curriculum is very weak and way below grade level and not in line with the state of Texas education TEKS. St. Laurence teaches 45 minutes of math per day in elementary. Fort Bend public elementary schools teach 90 minutes of math a day. Children are behind in math when they leave St. Laurence.

I go to St. Laurence and I have to admit, compared to my public middle school, it is a healthier enviroment. The students here are very nice and welcoming. We learn a lot, but we have a lot of fun too. I'm looking forward to graduating and going on my class trip with all my friends. They also taught me a lot about my faith (Mr. C is AWESOME!)

My son is a student in St. Laurence Catholic school. I must say it is one of the best school in Texas. It is a great school in every way.

I just graduated from St. Laurence and I can honestly say that I have learned quite a lot. I have to say that obviously some teachers are better than others but overall this is a very good school. The friends and relationships that you make here are very strong. I think the best part of my entire experience at St. Laurence was having Mr. Gabriel Castillo as my religion teacher in 8th grade. If you are sending your child here make sure that Mr. Castillo teaches them religion. Having him will be an experience that you will never forget.

I went to St. Laurence from pre-school all the way to 7th grade. I am now in highschool and did not feel when I went to eight grade in a public school that I was ahead as they told me I would be. If anythign my whole high school was messed up because they taught out of order than the rest of Texas. Though they say you are ahead, you fall behind and learn the not important details. I feel much better in the public high school I am in now. The elemtary was great for and the middle school was way to political with the staff.

Great school if you get the right teacher. Most teachers are really good a few i would rather my children not have. School is getting a new principal the word is she is very good.

My child is in the Pre-K program at St. Laurence. While I have preferences for teachers (some over others), I find that it is a very loving environment. The other benefit is that the children are starting to meet their school friends while they are still so young and innocent. My child loves all her friends and will probably have a good bound with all of them throughout the elementary years. They are stricter here than at my previous mother's day out program, but they are very loving. It's also a great way to start them on their religious education. My child is getting very comfortable talking about God. The times are not great, but they do have an excellent extended day program which is very flexible. Nice school, but it might not be for every child. It is very structured.

Good location, too much Christianity teachings. Did not feel that my child was getting a balanced education at the school. I was not impressed, I have transferred her to a nearby private school where i am much happier.

I sent my child to Saint Laurence after he had a bad experience in the public school. He could make good grades in public school, but I knew he was not learning. At St.Laurence they gave him the needed help and attention to get him up to speed in just one year. The small class size and teacher involvement with the students are the reason. I highly recommend the school

St. Laurence Catholic Middle School is a wonderful place to trust your pre-teen/teenager to. Dr. Taylor and her staff maintain a safe environment where the kids can jump for the ceiling in academics in an absence of the abysmal pop culture mores/values that are pervasive in the public middle schools in our neighborhood. I would like to further add that compared to one of my other children who attended public middle school, St. Laurence does a better (and very thorough) job examining delicate topics such as sex education, cultural differences, and history as it was... not revised to be politically correct. The kids who leave here are well informed and hence prepared for 'real life.'
