Honor Roll School II Reviews

Very nice school. Classrooms have good teacher to student ratio with 3 teachers in some classrooms. Preschool program is very advanced. Would recommend.

We will not be enrolling again. No teaching gets done. Teachers are over-worked in classes too big to control. The kids are very badly behaved and the class time is taken up by disruptions and discipline issues.

Not at all what it used to be! Every since the ownership change, academic standards have become very low and the teachers just don t care any more. Classes are over crowded, and discipline problems are out of control.

How are the Student-Teacher ratios come up with on this site. We have been in the school several years and none of the classes have ever had less than 16 kids to 1 teacher. Now we have 24-1 and 19-1. Classrooms are very crowded and teachers frustrated. Bully problem that continues to go unresolved by administration. The school has potential that isn't being realized.

Not a good school any more. Just nice buildings and new branches going up everywhere. After the owner sold to a big company, we decided to stay and give it a try since we were very happy, but standards have fallen so drastically. The teachers have no direction. Parents have to spend hours with homework teaching everything ourselves. There is no help from the administration since there is no accountability any more. We are very sad to see our school turned into just another business.

Worst school. All you pay for is the aesthetics of the school. Curriculm is not even close to what you are paying. Worst mistake we made

I son has been going to the The Honor Roll School since he was 3 1/2-He is now 10 and in 5th grade. when he started, my wife and I had to give up on a lot of luxuries and I was very hesitant about the school, but after the 1st month, I have been a very strong proponent of the school. The levels at which the kids are being taught is way higher than public schools. For example, the kids that leave this school typically have already studied at 1-2 grade levels higher. My son's current math book is level 6th/7th grade. He scores A's and A+ because he is dedicated without us pushing him. We are still sacrificing to make his life better by sending him to the best school in Houston (for the money) so he doesn't have to suffer when he's older.

I was a former student at the Honor Roll School during my middle school years; I graduated from the middle school in 2006. Since many of my former teachers have not left, I feel that my review is not outdated yet. The school was very enriching educationally. I developed study habits, read books above my level, and my teachers very extremely gifted at teaching. In retrospect, I was an average student when I enrolled, and later became much better by the time left. I had developed emotionally and educationally beyond all expectations set. I owe many of my successes to the dedicated teachers and administrators in the school. On the discipline issue, Many middle school students claimed that THRS's discipline standards are too harsh. However, looking back, I believe they were just right. The discipline standards were fairly standard and don't seem excessively harsh.

I pulled my kids out of the school because i had to reteach everything at home. The quality of education and the teachers at the higher grades are horrible.

My son has done exceptionally well at the Honor Roll School! He was transferred from another private school, after missing 1 year due to health reasons. The honor school provided the support he needed to succeed in 5th grade. Tuition is not that expensive when compared to other private Schools in the Houston Area. My philosophy, if you can afford it, spends it on your kids' education now.

I attended Honor Roll from 1st to 8th grade and while there I saw a steady decline in the teachers and principals standards. The school is very unwilling to accept students who have learning disorders and has a set standard of what they believe their students are. I do not recommend sending your child here. There are plenty of wonderful school in the area. Please choose one of those.

This school is not what I expected. There wasn't any care for the staff and very little communication between the principal and teachers. However, this school is active with parent involvement. The parents are constantly helping out, but sometimes they do get in the way of your job. Overall, this school seems like private meets public. They have way too many children in a classroom.

nice facility, that's all. my daughter's application went in limbo because of the admission's director irresponsibility of dealing with this matter, not even a note to inform us. if you are an average parents of a kid that you think has potential, this is not the place for you as they pretty much will only cater to rich families. try Trent Internationale School instead who embraces not only your child but the whole family with no special strings attached.

As a former employee at thrs, I can say with first hand knowledge that expectations are high. But I dont ever recall meeting any parent wanting to spend $10k a year for their 6 year old to go to private school and come out with only an average education. The workload is strong, but not unbearable. The entire staff is committed to helping your children; after all, they didnt become teachers for the money. If you are looking for a place where you can drop your kid off, make a minimal effort to get involved in their education, then pick them up after work, thrs might not be the place.

This school is not as great as we expected. Principal leadership is good, and the environment is nice. However, the teacher of our kid is not good - she did not care about her students enough, and all she did was to let the kids obey her order. We decided to transfer our kid to another school, and we feel much better now.

This school has nice facilities but the teacher quality is poor. Most of them are below average and a few teachers are amazing. We tranfered out kid to other school and we are very happy with our decision.

I used to go to THRS. I was there from 3rd to the end of 7th - just quit last year to go somewhere else. Acedemically they are great. Principal leadership, saftey, and discipline are great too. They have a variety of extracurricular activities. The school is a bit pricey though - around 10 thousand dollars a year. The teacher quality is decent. You have to follow certain guidelines and do certain things (really specific), otherwise you get in trouble. They dont let you express who you really are. Overall nice school, just too demanding. Also you have to wear uniforms every day.

Honor Roll School has been in Sugar Land for many years and is well known throughout the community. There are many problems though. The faculty does not listen to anything the parent and students have to say. The students feel stereotyped because they want tp be who they actuall are instead of a fake front. So I suggest you rethink sending your child there!

The acedemics are very high, almost too demanding. It's good for those who are extremely advanced, but even just above-average students have a hard time there. The safety is great, but the faculty is horrible. A few teachers are amazing, but most are just average or below. This isn't a school for anyone who thinks differently or isn't plainly mainstream.

I have a four year old daughter that attends the honor roll school. since she was a baby shes been quick to learn things; she was walking at 9 months. the honor roll school has taken her knowledge beyond my imagination. she talks like an adult which surprises me every day. at four years of age she knows all of her numbers and ABC's. they have her spelling four letter words. my main concern about thrs was the fact that we are Hispanic. my daughter is one of 18 Hispanic children at thrs. however the environment in this school would make you think that all the children were the same color. Human would be that color. if there is any racism in this school it is not evident . i personally recommend thrs. it's your child's future.

We have a two children in THRS and a third accepted for next year. This school is has strong academics with an emphasis on personal responsibility and respect. This school helps the child build character. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities such as the 'spelling elephant', 'story telling' and 'creative writing'. The parents very involved with the school's community activities. Parent and teachers watch out for all students not only their own.

Good academic programs and extracurricular activities. High level of parent involvement.

Although albeit expensive, the teachers are very patient and fun, while still setting high expectations.

Honor Roll has a very structured program for 2 year olds and their Transitional Kindergarten program was a perfect fit for our daughter who is 11 days shy of qualifying for the Kindergarten program.

Academic programs are great.

Awesome academic programs such as Mathematics, English, and Science

I am in love with this school. My children have really improved since becoming a part of th school last year. It is such a diverse school tha my children are learning about many other cultures. The curriculum is above average and a real challenge for students. My children and I view the school as part of our family. I wouldn't take them anywhere else.

I transfered my kids from the Village School to the Honor Roll School and noticed a real improvement. The teachers take more time with students and I can tell that their level of understanding is improving everyday.

Nice facility but average curriculums, and average teachers. Will be sending my children to another private school in the area next fall.
