Cy-Fair Christian Academy Reviews

Parents are expected to volunteer, write tuition checks and hold their tongues. Security is excuse for not allowing visitors in. This whole locked door and no unauthorized visits is alarming. I understand safety but I do not agree with never being allowed to see what is going on except a screened PR release from the office. Scholastic teaching is behind and religion is top concern. We are leaving at semester break. I wish I would have listened more to the other reviews.

this school needs to listen to the parents and use discernment but not hush their constructive comments. parents are made to feel their opinion is just that and should not be voiced. This attitude has proved quite harmful to the growth of this school.

Nothing is offered by way of extracurricular activites. PE is not even equipped with the proper equipment. Music is a set of broken and mismatched equipment that is usually not enough to cover the entire classroom of students. Our teacher was okay but the academics were not on the level. Religion as a subject is great.

Rather than trying to improve the school and than looking at the reasons why people are leaving, the staff has become unreasonably defensive. The principal is ready to snap at any questions or comments. I believe that it is reasonable to expect parents to be involved and concerned about their children (You can't expect for them to be involved enough to volunteer like crazy and not be involved enough to ask questions?) There really is no checks and balances. A little follow through and some elbow grease could change the academic and extracurricular problems. Big talk is not an answer-Just Do It or stop claiming it. The reviews about the religion are true in some classes. Some teachers take their religion to a level that is not appropriate. There is not a school policy on teachings/lessons. Overall I would have to say that it is not worth the tuition costs.

I am happy to find a christian school to meet my belief in christian based education.CFCA is a blessing to our family. My child comes home happy and excited to do his homework and look forward to another day in school. With this kind of response from him, I believe he enjoys school and all that school has to offer. I am a working parent, but I find time to volunteer .I'm actively involved in my child's education at home and in school which I believe is important to learning. There is no perfect school, but by God's grace we can support and pray for one.

One of my main concerns was the lack of straight answers when it came to school test results. Most schools will give you an overall idea of testing and results. I was not able to get any. I could see this school going places if they started fulfilling promises made, raising academics, implementing sports & music & art classes. We did not enroll again for this fall. If they had some major changes, we would be willing to re-evaluate our leaving. I just need to see some accountability and some answers. I want something for the tuition costs. We went to private school for extras. Some classes only have 3 children in the entire grade, that should offer some great potential for amazing one-on-one, neat field trips and wonderful teaching opportunities. I hope that they realize the potential and rise to the occassion.

Simply stated this school is a headache that you pay to have. Academics are very behind. Non-existent sports programs and the music is a box of dusty broken instruments. They claim to have theater but when asked, they told me that it was only for certain grades. Same thing with the arts. Computers still boxes and the library is only a certain area approved books. (Not what they have up for display)

I placed my child who was on Level going into 4th grade here with high expectations which were all ruined by Christmas. I agree with every bad review on this site. I feel sorry for the parents who are fooled by the beautiful campus and foney sweetness by the administration when signing up. The kids are great kids who are treated so poorly that you cant do anything but feel sorry for them. They do have a few good teachers and we only finished the year because we did have the best one, but since you never know who your child would get it is not worth the risk. I have never seen volunteers work so hard and be treated so poorly. But the real problem is going out we are 2 to 3 months behind and not going in to 5th grade on level. To me, totally unacceptable!

Great school for parents wanting a Christian environment. Positive experience with teachers and principal. Good academic program.

The public school curriculum was far beyond what my child was taught in this school! I suggest you compare the curriculum to the public schools, and other Christian private schools, get in writing any promises they make you. Honestly I can't believe this school's still open.

Horrible experience! The staff was not able to do all of the things that they promised and they wanted to parents to help out. Most were glad at first. The expectations were unrealistic. It was unappreciated and taken for granted. I am glad to volunteer but I am not going to pay tuition, work for free all while I am being made to feel guilty for having to work. This is the version of Christianity that I don't want to be a part of. We are out for next year.

This school has a beef with working parents. First, it was frowned on that I was not able to donate as much time as they would like. I am sorry-I am glad to participate but I work. There were parents who were up there as much as some teachers. The other issue is the school closings. Some things are unavoidable but I expected a little more consideration than a 'We are closed today.'I have no time to make other arrangements. I met with the same apathy that the other reviews mention.

This was a horrible experience. Our teacher was unprofessional and very harsh. I discussed this with her and was blown off. I then took the problem to the principal. She lectured me on the principle's of Matthew. She told me to take it back to the teacher. It was this run around and lack of leadership that made me leave. I kept on thinking, 'Who is in charge?' I was trying to pay their tuition. I couldn't leave work to meet with a circle of people repeatedly to have nothing done. I just wanted the teacher to stop screaming at my child. We left the school. The rest of these reviews show that this was not an isolated incidence.

Learning from a Christian perspective is what we signed up for. Being 'programed' by something that sounds like a Jerry Falwell sermon is what happened. Christian view points are very important but that is not going to replace an academic education. My child came home pledging to the Bible and the Christian flag. She was terrified of going to hell and of the devil coming to get her. This school is not warm and loving. This is a place that literally gave my child nightmares. Principal's that know about & ignore it are not, in my opinion, strong in character or concerned with anyone's best interest. What happened to Jesus Loves Me? That is a very heavy load for someone who is 6. As with the majority of other reviewer's were very not happy & will not be returning.

Very positive experience. Dedicated to incorporating teaching of Scripture into daily student lives. Thank God for Christian schools.

Overall, we are very pleased with the academic program. We have had the occassion to have consultation with the Principal and the leadership seems to be very fair and responsive to our questions. We find that they seem to incorporate a Christian worldview into all aspects of the school.

I have never been around better children or parents. I have never seen an administration treat good people so poorly. Not to mention that these people are paying customers. They need to clean house!

All the parents are right. Everything I have read is in some way accurate. It depends on your perception. I think that the problem comes up when people are lead to believe that the school is one way and it is actually a different way. I am not here to make judgements or really even opinion on the school, I just want parents to realize that if they want a Christian education this is the place. If they a better education from a private school, they should probably look elsewhere. My only complaint is that the school tries to please everyone during enrollment rather than being upfront about their priorites.

Cy-Fair Christian Academy has a wonderful group of parents who support the teachers and administration. This year's 'Teacher Appreciation Week' has gone over the top! The children have had such fun honoring their teachers, principal, and administrative assistant. We have great teachers, great parents, great kids, but most of all we have a Great God who showers His love upon us in so many ways. Please come by and check us out for yourself and let God be your guide.

Totally pitiful! The school claims to be a warm-loving Christian environment, but instead they 'pound' their thoughts and beliefs in our children. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed with the whole experience and will not attend in the future.

I have had two children attending CFCA. The educational value received for the tuition charged is very good. I have also volunteered in many capacities and find parent involvement to be lacking; perhaps because of working families. I find the principal to be a woman of character and faith. She has always been receptive to my requests for consultation. Although sometimes she may not have agreed to my specific request, I think she has the best interests of all of the students and the school in her heart. My experience with my children's teachers has been, likewise, positive.

Now that we are finishing the year, I am forced to accept the need for a school change. This school had a wonderful vision and it has so lost it's way. The administrator seems to now answer only to herself. Academics have really fallen short of my expectations. Religious teachings have strayed from love to much harsher ground. There is no reason why the computer lab (which was 'state of the art' when it was purchased) sat in boxes for over 1 year. The staff never had time to unbox the computers? I felt scolded and told not to 'gossip' when I asked. I certainly feel that Ihave the right to question anything about my child and the education that I am paying for. Sadly, I can't recommend this school to anyone anymore.

I enrolled my children with the hope of a private school education. What actually happened had nothing to do with an education. Where is the promised computer lab? Where is the science lab or the theatre or the arts and music or finally the gifted and talented program? Why is the library off limits to the kids with the exception of a few screened books? We enrolled our children in this school with those programs being offered. They were never delivered. This school has nothing to offer.

I pulled my child out of this school at the semester break. He had gotten behind compared to other private schools and even by public school standards. The focus of his education seemed to be solely on relgion. Not the type of religion that I believe appropriate for young children. Now after a full semester at another Christian school he is ahead of the public schools, he has computer labs, science labs, music, art classes, sports and foreign language. All of this with a religious teaching of love and forgivness. The tuition was the same and the return on our money is so much greater. CFCA does not offer the benefits of other Christian Schools in the area.

The kindergarten environment was dreadful. The teacher was highly unprofessional. Her behavior and discussions showed lack of professionalism and reasonable judgment. In spite of many parental concerns and conferences, the teacher was allowed to remain, after many of the students had left. Pitiful. I am a Texas-licensed elementary teacher, with certification in pre-school. I do know what a teacher's role and behavior should be.

We enrolled our daughter in the Kindergarten program at CFCA. Unfortunatley, we were quite dissapointed with the faculty. The principal is quite rude and seems to have a 'power-trip' attitude. Don't let them fool you. They are good at making you think this is a warm, loving enviromnent, but they are instead very hippacritical. We will not attend CFCA next year. Although, if the principal/staff were changed, we might consider. I hope you found this somewhat helpful. I think it's all a learning expierence. Stay involved! Volunteer!

We currently have 2 children that attend this school and love it. Not only are children excited about going to school but the teacher involvement is outstanding. Our children receive one-on-one help when needed and the staff has been more than helpful when needed. We have had some concerns about the school having no extra activities..i.e. sports but our outlook on that is they are there for an education not there to become the next baseball star. We have been very pleased with the school and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Loving Christian Environment with an Excellent Curriculum.

My child attends CFCA and I can say that the discipline is average to a public school. Most people fail to realize that the student populatio is compile of students who once attended public school. Sometimes when I am on campus I see the teachers speaking to the children in the most appropriate voice tone. The curriculum is Christian based, but it is also up to the parents to continue education outside of the school environment. As a parent, I do not expect the teacher to teach my child everything because I know I have a responsibility as well. The computer lab is not in full use, but that should come soon. The doors are locked for saftey and please remember that it is a private school which means the student teacher ratio IS low for a reason.

CFCA sold us a promise of a state-of-the-art computer lab (Which was not turned on) a science-lab (a series of VCR tape) and a music program (consisting of a broken piano covered in dust hidden in the corner of the cafeteria) Their Gifted and Talent turned out to 'not be practical' after all. There is no sports program. There are too few teachers to deliver promised subjects. Their curriculum is far behind other ABeka schools (by their own admission.) Discipline is handled by screaming teachers determined to educate little kids on the horrors of hell and humiliating students in front of their peers. Any questioning by parents is met with condescending offers of prayer or scolding parent conferences. You are not welcome to comment or question anything. There is a reason why the doors are locked and parents need prior approval to be allowed in. Administrators screaming Shut-Up to children is unacceptable.
