Clements High School Reviews

I'm sorry to say that I have been extremely disappointed with Clements. The teachers I had were sometimes unfair and seemed to care for the top students more. I thought that teaching quality and experience varied greatly even between teachers teaching the same subject. The Preap/honors classes I took were based on mostly rote memorization, which doesn't allow for hands-on learning. I've yet to see the administration take action against the academic dishonesty here. The learning environment and extracurriculars are fairly good. This school looks great on paper due to the demographics. In the end, this school was not for me, since it was just too competitive (academically, socially). I thought the facility is not adequate for the large student body. I think Clements may be good for some talented students, but the vast majority would thrive elsewhere. Just my opinion...

This school is extremely hard as far as education goes. To compare the work i do to the work of kids from some other schools its crazy. The social and athletic competetiveness can get crazy. Just about everyone who goes there strives to be the best and it can seriously damage some people.

Clements was extremely hard. and the social competition between students with money and popularity is extremely high.

I graduated from Clements a few years ago. The students at Clements are very motivated, high achieving, and get accepted to many top universities. Yes, it's rigorous, and some of the teachers are ridiculous and unfair, but that is life. There will be some ridiculous professors in college that students will need to learn how to deal with. Most teachers at Clements will be there either before or after school to help students, but students need to take the initiative to get the help. On the other hand there are some decent teachers there who care about their students and love their job. The fine arts program in particular is very strong. All in all, Clements helped me in college in terms of work ethic and study habits, but I guess it's all what you make of it.

If you want to rank the education it provides, this school deserves a 2. If you a looking for healthy competition and look upon the strength of the school as an evaluation, then this school easily scores a 5. First, the quality of the student is far superior to any other school in its districts. When Clements is at its peak, it has more PSAT Semi-Finalist than all the other schools in the district combined, but this quality comes from the student's insanely strong abilities. Many of the elites have placed in the top 10 in nation before coming to high school. As a result, the competition is insanely hard. As for teaching, this school is pretty inconsistent. While there are decent AP teachers, but the school as a whole is weak at teaching. The teachers usually love to focus on strong students and have an unfair bias toward others.

I went to Klein HS and to Clements. Both were wonderful schools. Clements has amazing teachers and I remember studying so hard to keep up my GPA. I look back and am proud to say that I graduated from there. Some people think that it is competitive or materialistic, but really it's just your average high school.

Although Clements is a nationally recognized high school, I believe that the quality of the teachers is significantly below average. The reason for the high test scores is confounded by the socioeconomic status of the students who attend this school and does not necessarily reflect the quality of the school itself. Also, there is a strong focus on materialism. We are now looking at private schools. Enough said.

I graduated from Clements High School a few years ago. I had a few great teachers that made learning fun. I was struggling in one class and the counselors did not help until other teachers spoke up for me. I felt very unprepared for college.

Some of the teachers were best in the state until many retired, but the legacy still burns strongly in a few teachers as well as the deptartments. Top-notch extracurricular. Parent involvement is great for a public school. No school has enough parent involvement. Safe? Some schools have fights every day. Clements doesn't even have a fight every year. Although it may seem overrated, Clements seriously beats most schools in all categories. Teachers help everyone but some students seek it. Students tend to feel the immorality (cheating/unfairness) because of their virtue and the schools honor code.

clements is one of the safest high schools in this area. Not only do they care about all thier students but they give them some of the best education in order for students to succeed in life. I'm a current student at clements and throughout the past 3 years that I have been here I have seen maybe 2 fights, unlike other schools. I'm not in the top of my class and i still make good grades. So just do the work, show up everyday, and you'll do great. Clements desrved its top ranking for all reasons.

I think this school is way overrated! Teachers are more than willing to assist the top 10%, but forget to do so with those remaining 90% who need their help more.

Elkins High School a supportive learning environment, provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become productive, responsible and successful members of society.

Clements is a great school, the education system at Clements is far better than any other school in the area. Clements has maintained its reputation and has a great intelligent staff that are motivated to providing students the best and therefore it isnt a surprise to see that Clements has one of the highest ratings!

farily good academics, but only the top students. Clements, overall qualities, is moderatley strong.

I graduated from Clements in 2004. Too much cheating is going on here, espcially in AP/honor classes. Top students try their best to play the 'GPA game.' Grade inflation is very awful here. I think teachers just want to make as many A's students as possible, but they don't know that this is hurting the school.

Clements has good foreign language programs. English teachers were generally good and knowlegeable and encouraged you to expand your imagination on different literatures and had good class discussions.

The academics were wonderful at Clements

Quality of academic program is extremely high. Lots of extracurricular programs are available.

Good school with good diversity. Academically oriented.

There is a great deal of racial tension at this school, but despite that the education received at Clements is top rate. Not just the Pre-AP levels, but also all the levels have excellent curriculums. The teachers at Clements sometimes can be a bit much; a lot of homework is given. Clements is still a wonderful school! It is by all means the best high school in Fort Bend ISD.

This school is very competitive. They expect a lot of their students, including extracurricular activities.

Great school, one of the best public schools in Texas.

I graduated from Clements in 2000. Thanks in part to the academic riggor of Clements and the mostly fantastic teachers I had, I will be graduating from the University of Virginia this year. I felt Clements had the resources to give me the opportunity to truly excell in any extracurricular or academic activities that I wanted. I found the school to be very diverse in character, though homogenous in economic background. This meant that there were a myriad of interests and a wide variety of vices. A great majority of students were good students, and good people. However, in any place where kids can affort to do drugs, they are going to get their hands on them somehow, and Clements is no exception. More generally, kids are going to make mistakes. All of my friends have gone on to Colleges all over the country, and have stayed in. While the AP and honors classes are an excellent way for students to challenge themselves and advance themselves, they are absolutely not necessary for success. Remember...its just high school. Its supposed to be fun.

I graduated from Clements in 2002. If you put your kids in honors classes and want them to be doctors and lawyers, this is the school for you. However, you want your kids to have an enjoyable high school experience choose another school. Clements has no school spirit and no school pride.

Clements provides an atmosphere where the kids feel safe. As far as the academics, there appears to be an elite group of academically brilliant students that the school, in general, seems to feed off, and consequently the majority of normal but bright kids are made to feel somewhat inferior. If a student is taking all 'advanced' classes, it is not considered anything special as it would be in most other schools. Many of the teachers at Clements, specifically the 'honors' teachers will not take the time to work with ordinary kids, it is easier to let them fall through the cracks. They prefer to point out the brilliant students, which quite honestly, those kids do not need the teacher. Academically there is an underlying sadness at this school where the majority of kids never feel they are quite good enough.

Clements High School offers outstanding opportunities for high school students. Most Houston area (and state of Texas) private and parochial schools would have a very hard time competing with the offerings of Clements. Just look at the percentage of students selected for Ivy League colleges!

This school is a great school for students who are gifted and talented. My daughter, who I consider as an above average student struggled for average grades at this school. Her teachers were much too strict and did not show interest in her progress even in her average academic classes. Before we moved into Clements' district, my daughter was in advance classes, but after awhile she needed to change her level in many her classses to academic status. Don't get me wrong, this is a great school for highly achieved kids. Warning to parents, do not send your child to this school if they are not excessively motivated and/or high achievers.

Outstanding school with unlimited opportunities!

Clements is definitely a school that has high educational standards. It is extremely difficult to rank into the top 25% not to mention 10%. That makes it difficult to attend the college of their choice however this is not a bad thing. I am very confident that my child will be able to handle college life and the workload much better for having attended Clements. The students at this school are already required to take total responsibility for themselves and their work. The teachers do not babysit them. There are other avenues available if the student requires extra tutoring. I do not know about the huge drug problem another parent mentioned but I would say it wouldn't surprise me only because aren't most schools struggling with this? I do want it acknowledged that there are very active parent and student organizations that face this very issue and they do a great deal during the year in the way of parent forums, sponsored activites mailouts, etc. The school can't handle this alone and parents need to take an active role to curtail the problem. My son is an average student here. Would he have a higher class ranking and grades if he attended another school? Probably, however we are not looking for a 'free ride' through high school. We are preparing our son for his future and he is learning valuable work study skills. He is being challenged and is having to make adult decisions. There are many great extracurricular activities/clubs and although it is hard to participate in many given the courseload it is a wonderful way for the students to be involved in community service making for a well rounded student. Many families that can afford to send their children to private school in this area do not because Clements provides a very comparable experience/education and is recognized and respected in the community for having such high standards.

I have a special needs child (Autistic). His life has been changed as a result of attending Clements. The others commented on only high achievers attending the school to benefit. You are wrong. You first have to be the one to see your child as a success and then be there every step of the way. No school will provide everything a child needs. Any child-brilliant or not. Clements-the staff and even more remarkably, the student body, has embraced my child and helped him to shine. He has never been excluded. in fact, he is in his third year of the JV Varsity choir-him, a child who cannot speak but a few words, in a choir that is willing to risk losing competitions in order to include him. He must follow strict rules and instead of dumbing rules down, he has had to push himself to the best of his ability. And isn't that what it is all about?

Your kids must take studying very seriously if they are to make it into the top 15-25%. The teachers move quickly through the materials. Extracurricular activities have high standards but are rewarding. CHS rivals top U.S. schools academically. Our kids have high IQ's with slight learning problems, but because CHS doesn't recognize nor provide for this unique combination, they fell into the cracks, and lost their love of learning. CHS wasn t concerned about them because they were passing. Drugs are an enormous problem at CHS. CHS is an achieving school that caters to the highest achievers.

This is a fantastic school! My daughter was part of the first graduating class at Clements. The teachers are very involved in the academic and extracurricular activities. They want their students to succeed. Since opening its doors, Clements' goal is to develop well-rounded and sucessful students.
