Lamar Cons High School Reviews

I am a parent of a senior and sophomore at LCHS and I must say my children have had nothing but praise for the teachers of this school. My children are taking advanced classes where the teachers are challenging them and preparing them for college. Kids who what to excel have every opportunity at that school, the teachers are always available to help in any way they can.

My elder daughter, also a Lamar High 2006 graduate. just finished a very successful freshman year at a major Texas university. I belief her success is partially due to a quality high school education. Like most things, the effort you put into something will have an impact on the outcome. My younger child is currently enrolled at Lamar High School. While there have been some administrative and faculty changes the past two years, the school looks to be on the right track.

I Graduated from Lamar High School in 2006. I was extremely dissatisfied with the quality of education which I received. I am now a student at Texas State University. It is now plainly obvious that this high school did not prepare me for college. A small number of teachers actually do care where the students are going in their lives, but most are there for the check every two weeks. If you want your child to succeed in life, send them somewhere in First Colony.

I graduated from Lamar Consolidated in 2004. I was very involved in activities around the school including the girls' soccer team and choir. While the extracurriculars were always fun and exciting, the classroom experience in many cases left something to be desired. There were several wonderful teachers at Lamar who really did put the effort into getting a point across to their students. Overall though, the academics were not up to the standards of other high schools I know of. As for safety, I'm sure it's better now, but considering in the four years I attended Lamar there was only one we didn't grace the news whether it had to do with a teacher student affair, or being kept in lockdown until 5 with swat in the hall. I hope the new principal had made better changes. There are good people there though so there is hope!

The quality of academic programs is excellent with more than adequate preparation for college. The music program is very good and there are many wonderful extracurricular activities. Parent involvement is very high for the most part with an exceptional parent volunteer program. Quality teachers are in abundance and principal leadership is exceptional.

Quality education with caring teachers and administration. There is a friendly, homey atmosphere among staff and students. There are many extracurricular activities for student involvement and special programs are excellent. Good experienced teachers prepare students for post high school experiences. Great parent involvement.

Very little focus put into education. Most teachers appear not to care about the job they're doing. Money doesn't appear to be distributed properly to help the students. Also not the safest campus.

Shanese Baldridge-I'm currently a senior at LCHS and would like to say that everyday that I step into Lamar I feel very welcomed by the teachers and other students. I like Lamar alot because of the great teachers and athletic programs. The teachers here teach you alot and make sure you understand the lectures. The athletic programs are awesome and keeps getting better and better each year. I will miss Lamar when I graduate but will continue to come back to visit. I feel as if the principals and faculty treat everyone equally and enjoy being around us everyday. I couldn't ask to be anywhere better!! Go Stangs!

Although Lamar High School is the oldest high school campus in the district, the faculty and staff work very well together as a team to address the needs of each and every student. There is a tradition of excellence at this campus, noted by the UIL competitions, Speech/Debate teams. Two generations are seeing the halls of this facility; parents at Open House and special events recall wonderful memories while their own children are now enrolled.

Lamar Consolidated is a great school, it is not too big and not to small. Everyone seems to know everyone. Parents are very involved. A lot of the students are related which is helpful because there is always someone to get a hold of. They really work hard to help the students. The principals, especially Mr. Buford have been very helpful to me.

Classes at Lamar offer challenging curriculum taught by outstanding experienced teachers. There is still a small town atmosphere of involvement in sports, theater and other extra-curricular activities

Lamar Cons High School has a comfortable atmosphere with a faculty that recognizes the kids and greets everyone by name - no small feat for such a high enrollment.
